BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 65-year-old man, believed to be the country's first person with the rare Lazarus phenomenon, died on Tuesday.
On April 14, this man had stopped breathing and doctors pronounced him dead. But, miraculously, he began breathing again after two-and-a-half hours.
However, on Tuesday Ng Ba Kia @ Ng Swee Hock breathed his last at his home in Kampung Tok Elong here at about 10.50am.
A Seberang Jaya Hospital ambulance had earlier taken Ng back home, where his wife and relatives received him.
With his family's consent, an accompanying nurse removed Ng's breathing apparatus.
A family member said Ng's remains would be cremated at the Berapit Crematorium at 10am on Saturday.
He was rushed to the hospital on April 14 after he stopped breathing at his home.
Doctors then performed cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him for 45 minutes but there was no response and he was pronounced dead. He started breathing again on his own.
