Maid hid RM9400 in underwear

A Filipino maid was packed off to jail for three weeks on Monday for stealing $3,850 (RM9400) from her employer's husband.
Leah Capena Munar, 28, pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing $1,000 (RM2400) and $600 (RM1500) from Mr Goh Teck Meng, 47, at a Bukit Timah house on April 27 and May 1 respectively.
A court heard that she pocketed the money from the victim's trousers hanging outside the cupboard in his room.
When police arrested her on May 13, they recovered $3,500 (RM8500) hidden in her underwear.
She confessed that she had remitted remitted part of the stolen money to her family in the Philippines.
Three other similar charges involving $2,250 (RM5500) were taken into consideration during her sentencing. She could have ben jailed for up to seven years and fined on each charge.
