Air ticket upgrade cash allegedly stolen

The flight crew of a Virgin Atlantic jet have been arrested for allegedly stealing cash a passenger paid for an upgrade.
Seven stewardesses and stewards are accused of keeping £3,000 the man forked out to be moved into first class.
He used cash because credit card payments were banned on the flight from Lagos, Nigeria, to Heathrow under Virgin's anti-fraud policy.
But instead of putting the payment through the books, the crew of the Airbus A340-600 allegedly pocketed the money.
It came to light when the passenger tried to claim loyalty points - but Virgin had no record of the transaction.
Scotland Yard detectives arrested the crew and are now trying to establish if any customers were fleeced.
The crew members are aged between 20 and 40 and come from London and the Home Counties. A police spokesman confirmed last night: "Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of theft between April 24 and June 1. They have been bailed pending further inquiries."
The airline, who said no customers were overcharged, said in a statement: "Virgin Atlantic takes all security and safety matters extremely seriously.
"We are currently going through a disciplinary process and appropriate action will be taken."- www.thesun.co.uk
